Block 4 of Commonwealth Solar II rebates closed earlier this month, meaning that people will need to wait until Block 5 is released in order to apply for rebates for their solar installation.
Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) recently announced that Block 5 of the rebate program will be released in early January 2011. Block 5 has the following rebate structure and is capped at 5kW.
Compared to the 2010 Massachusetts rebates, which had a maximum value of $2.10 per watt, Block 5 rebates have been reduced slightly to a maximum rebate of $1.70 per watt, or $8,500 for a 5kW system. These rebates are still quite substantial and can help reduce installation costs by more than half, especially when combined with the 30% Federal Tax Credit and the extremely successful SREC program in Massachusetts.
Rebates are given out on a first-come first-serve basis, so it’s best to act quickly before the funds run out, as solar rebates continue to decrease every year. A free site evaluation from a reputable installer is the best way to find out how much a system would cost you and how much you can save with these new rebates.
To reduce the confusing burden of paperwork and ensure that customers receive the maximum incentives available, Sunlight Solar staff handles all of the rebate paperwork in-house.
We are excited that solar energy can continue to be a viable energy option for homeowners, and we look forward to a continuously robust solar energy market in Massachusetts!
