SunRun Program
Sunlight Solar and SunRun Bring Affordable Solar Energy to Massachusetts Homeowners
Sunlight Solar Energy has partnered with SunRun Inc., the nation’s #1 provider of residential solar electricity, to increase the ease and affordability of solar energy for homeowners. With Sunlight Solar and SunRun, you can go solar for as low as $0 down and purchase the electricity from your solar array at a monthly rate that is lower than your current electric rate for 20 years. You can control exactly what you’re paying for electricity for the next 20 years and hedge against future utility rate increases.
Customers will find that using SunRun to finance their systems will not only decrease paperwork and redtape, but it will also increase the value of their solar investment by added system monitoring, guaranteed production, and an industry-leading material and labor warranty.
What is SunRun?
SunRun is a national solar power company that specializes in making solar affordable for everyone by vastly lowering the out-of-pocket cost for a residential solar power system. SunRun provides a 20-year operations & maintenance agreement that includes a 100% equipment and labor warranty, as well as a money-back performance guarantee.
Sunlight Solar designs and installs the system, SunRun takes complete care of system maintenance and performance, and you receive the benefits of clean, affordable solar electricity.
SunRun Total Solar – Low Upfront
Low Upfront is the most affordable alternative to your utility.
- Get started for as low as $0 down and pay a low monthly rate for electricity, just like you pay your utility today.
- Lock in a low rate for solar electricity for the next 20 years and save up to 15% immediately.
- Enjoy complete care of your system, including installation, monitoring, repair, insurance, and a money-back performance guarantee.
SunRun Total Solar – Prepaid
Pay for your solar power in advance and get the best rate.
- Pay once at the start of the agreement and skip the monthly bills.
- Spend 30% less than purchasing a home solar system outright.
- Enjoy complete care of your system, including installation, monitoring, repair, insurance, and a money-back performance guarantee.
For the 20-year agreement, SunRun will maintain ownership of the solar equipment on your roof and you will reap all of the benefits of having solar power without the cost or hassle of ownership. This is also referred to as a residential PPA (power purchase agreement) or a solar power finance program. Essentially – you control exactly what you will pay for the next 20 years of electricity, allowing you to hedge against future rate increases from NSTAR or National Grid.
Who is eligible?
This program is available for any Massachusetts resident whose electricity is provided by NSTAR or National Grid. Sunlight Solar will provide the SunRun solar program service statewide including Newton, Needham, Boston, Brookline, Wellesley, Natick, Waltham, Medford, Somerville, Winchester, Lexington, Woburn, Burlington, Andover, Haverhill, Newburyport, Salisbury, Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, Danvers, Beverly, Peabody, Reading, Wakefield, Saugus, Salem, Revere, Winthrop, Framingham, Dedham, Milton, Medford, Sharon, Quincy, Weymouth, Stoughton, Scituate, Plymouth, Barnstable. If your city is not listed and you are a National Grid or NSTAR customer, you are eligible.
Can I buy the equipment?
Of course. However, with SunRun, you can buy electricity from a clean renewable source, and at a lower cost than you would pay for the same power from your utility. You will never have to worry about the equipment as it is under a 20-year full 100% warranty.
What are my options at the end of the 20-year agreement?
At the end of 20 years you will have three options:
- Renew with SunRun
- Remove the equipment at no cost to you
- Buy the equipment at Fair Market Value (determined by a 3rd party)
What if I move before the 20-year agreement is complete?
You can transfer the agreement to the new homeowner. They will pay no additional costs and your home will have an increased value and potentially higher selling price.
What if SunRun goes out of business?
If SunRun were to go out of business you are completely protected. An escrow account is created to completely protect your system today and for the entirety of the agreement.
What if my roof needs re-roofing?
We recommend 10 years of remaining roof life if you are having a PV system installed. If your roof has less than 10-years of remaining roof life, we recommend at least re-roofing the portion of your roof where the solar array will go.
