Smart Mount
Smart Mount, created by Sunpower, is our most affordable racking system. You can use Smart Mount on your roof if you are using Sunpower panels and if you have only one layer of asphalt shingles on your roof. Smart Mount does not penetrate your rafters like tradition mounting systems. Each penetration is only into the sheathing, and every single penetration is flashed. This unique system offers much better roof leak protection than traditional racking. Along with intelligent design, Smart Mount is also better for the environment. Because this mounting system doesn’t use any bulky aluminum rails, it requires 80% less raw materials to manufacture. It looks great, too!

Unirac SunFrame racking system. Bethlehem, CT
Unirac
Our most commonly used racking system is Unirac. Unirac offers two types of roof mounting systems: Solar Mount and SunFrame. Solar Mount is a more traditional racking style in which the panels are held down by clips on the edges of the panels that are anchored into the rails below. This style of racking leaves a one inch gap between the panels. It does allow you to cantilever your array over the edge of the roof if you need more space. SunFrame (pictured on the left) leaves no gaps between panels. The panels are anchored into the rails below by a “capstrip” that is attached to the edge of each panel. The result is beautiful sleek array with no gaps between panels.
