John Chamberlain
John started with Sunlight Solar the day after the 2008 Presidential Election and by the summer of 2009 he transitioned from PV System Design to his current role as the Director of Operations for CT. His responsibilities include connecting the design, sales, installation, marketing and collections pieces of the business, managing the budget, and managing the company’s relationship with industry groups and the CT state legislature. John also assists with IT issues in the office, and managed vendor selection for the 2009 re-launch of the Sunlight Solar website.
To train for these diverse responsibilities John earned a Bachelor’s in Philosophy from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY with minors in Math, Computer Science and Critical Social Studies. John also attended SunPower University commercial and residential system design and sales training along with NESEA sponsored training sessions on green building and energy efficient building practices.
Born and raised in the Philadelphia area he remains a die-hard Phillies fan to this day, but resides in Trumbull CT just up the street from Booth Hill Elementary School. Before joining Sunlight Solar’s staff John worked in various nonprofit organizations, building houses with Habitat for Humanity in Miami while working with AmeriCorps, and later working for two years at KaBOOM!, a DC based organization that rallies communities to create safe places for kids to play. In his free time, you will find John playing softball with other grown-ups in the warm weather, and exploring photography all year round.
