Home Energy Solutions Co-Pay Increase

While it’s a requirement from the Connecticut Green Bank to install solar, we recommend all homeowners have an audit from Home Energy Solutions regardless if they plan to go solar. Home Energy Solutions provides a variety of energy-saving measures for homes including air sealing, efficient lighting, low-flow shower heads and other conservation services. Currently, the co-pay for this program is $99.

As of September 1, 2016, the co-payment for Home Energy Solutions will increase to $124.
On December 31, 2015, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) issued its Approval with Conditions of the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund’s Electric and Natural Gas Conservation and Load Management Plan for 2016 – 2018. The DEEP Condition #7 pertains to the HES Co-Payment and specifically requires the co-payment to increase at least $25 annually, for three years, beginning no later than September 1, 2016.
There are opportunities to take advantage of Home Energy Solutions without the co-pay. Income-Eligible households can apply to have these services at no cost. Find out more here.
Residents of North Haven can also receive Home Energy Solutions at no cost to them, due to a Bright Idea Grant that paid the cost of services for the first 300 people to sign up. Learn more here.

Regardless of where you live or your income, the value of Home Energy Solutions is great. Now is a wonderful opportunity to schedule an in-home visit before the co-payment increases from $99 to $124 on September 1, 2016.
